The 2024 Card Reading
Sharing my beginning of the year ritual
Every year I pull a card from every one of my decks1 at the start of the year, asking what I need to know for the next year. I saw some interesting trends I wanted to share.
I always start off with a 3-card reading from my working deck, Denise Linn’s Sacred Travelers deck - they’re the ones in purple at the center of the picture. They break down as:
What Needs To Be Healed: Passion and Pleasure - Savor your life.
How To Heal The Blockage: Wise Leader - You are a beacon for others
What Is The Future Outcome: Fogged In - Go slow, take time.
Fogged In is a really weird card to have in the outcome position but since the first card also talks about taking time, I’m choosing to see that as a good thing. And it seems to get there I need to own my ability to guide others.
I ended up with an unintentional 3 card reading with my current favourite personal deck, Gateway Oracle, also by Denise Linn. They are the teal cards in the bottom right. When the cards come out together, you go with it.
Needs to be Healed: Opening to Love - My heart is open.
Heal the Blockage: Letting Go - I surrender joyously to the ebbing and flowing of life.
Future Outcome: Healing the Past - I step into my future with strength and clarity.
As other cards were talking about being still, I’ve been doing a lot of that this week and what has been coming up is how past relationships have been blocking my desire for intimate connection. So the message here is to let go of my protections and distancing and jump into the flow.

Surrender to What Is - Flow with what is instead of fighting it. When you can’t change a situation, compassionately accepting it exactly as it is will bring you peace.5

Innocence - The simplest gestures of love and respect can prevail over even the toughest hearts.7
High Priestess - Mysteries Revealed in the Eye of Isis8
Holy Amethyst: Divine Alchemy - Move beyond current challenges. Focus on what you deserve.9
Clarity: Clarity is my birthright - Change me, Divine Beloved, into one who remembers in every moment my true self. Love, Light, Wisdom and Destiny.10
Gate 40: Restoration - Ability to retreat and replenish.11
Two decks gave me two cards each. My very first deck, Jodi Chapman’s Soul Clarity cards, came with an amethyst so it flowed naturally from the Holy Amethyst card. The cards were:
Be Grateful - Let gratitude seep into every part of your being. Allow it to wash over you completely.
Be Still - It’s in the stillness that you speak directly to your soul. Go there. Be there.
Tosha Silver’s Divine Abundance deck is easily the best deck to shuffle as the cards slide easily away from each other. The cards were:
Receiving - Every day it becomes easier to receive the highest Divine Plan and to trust my inner guidance.
Reframe - This is happening for me, not to me.

So looking at all of these cards, what are the themes? I see stillness to get in touch with divinity, both my own and the collective. Relax and let go. Open my heart to others. Communicate the wisdom I have to share and put myself out more in the world. Trust in my success.
